NEW YEAR'S DAY MYSTERY QUILT

Ok, this is a quick and dirty web page just to show you what my New Year's Day Mystery Quilt ended up looking like when it was done.  It was officially completed (top only, for you analytical types) at 11 pm EST.

All the fabric was pulled from my stash.  I think the fabric measurements were pretty close, but you can figure out what you actually need if you work backwards from the directions.  The only problem I had was following the directions to cut the 9-patch blocks into their final size.  I finally figured it out though.

Four small 9-patch blocks are used in the corners.  I really liked the way the 9-patch blocks turned out and was quite nervous when I had to started cutting into them.  Cutting them really wastes a lot of fabric in my opinion since you start off with a 9" block and end up with a 6" block, but it does give the quilt a unique look.

The first picture is of one of the larger blocks.  The second shows the borders and corner blocks.  (This shot was taken on my bedroom floor, so the green is my carpet, not part of the quilt top!).  The third one shows the full top and the last picture is a close up of the border fabric and the fabric I will use as the backing.  The accent blocks pull the purple out of the floral fabric.  This was fun to do and would make a cute baby quilt done in different colors!  If you downloaded the pattern, put it on your list of things to do!
